Investing 12 hours of your time to take a parenting course is the best commitment you can make to help your family thrive. It's less time than we tend to spend learning to drive or train a dog!

Since starting the course I have already seen such a difference and our home is a much calmer and happier place. The morning routine is where I’ve seen major improvements. This morning when I came down, my daughter was already dressed, had made her own breakfast, fed the cat, made her bed, brushed her teeth and her shoes and bag where next to the front door ready to go! I had time to have hot cup of tea before we left!

- Rebecca, mum of two

Christian and I wanted to say a HUGE thank you for your time leading the Positive Parenting course over the last six weeks. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and have learnt so much about ourselves, our parenting style and the very different profiles of the children we are raising. We have already seen a lot of improvement in the calmness levels of our household and are really seeing the benefit of the new skills we are putting into place. I know we will come back to it time and time again, so thank you so much for your help.

- Rhiannon, mum of two

The Positive Parenting Course is the best investment you can make for your children. Over the 6 weeks, we got lots of useful and practical tips and tools. Every parent should take this course – it’s great, whatever age your children are. We can’t recommend it enough!

- M & R, parents of two

The positive parenting course gave us the tools and fundamentals to conquer family challenges and build a foundation on which to create a more peaceful and positive home. What a great experience.

- Lindsey, mum of three

I recommend the positive parenting course to everyone! It helps improve the relationship between you and your children, and between you and your partner, colleagues and friends. It gives you the tools to understand yourself and others better.

- Kristel, mum of three

The course was such great guidance to raising your child. Everything was so intelligent and positive in approach, and I feel much better equipped and calmer when dealing with challenging situations at home.

- Barbara, mum of one

I thought the course was absolutely fantastic. The set up was great. The length of each session was perfect. We will always remember this course as something very special during Lockdown. We will be back!

Class 1   Growing Self-Esteem

Our self-esteem has a huge influence on every aspect of our life, as it affects how we interact with challenges and opportunities. Parents help develop their child’s sense of self using skills such as Descriptive Praise. Nurturing your child’s self-esteem also has a positive effect on how you feel as a parent, and the general mood and dynamics at home.

You will learn to:

  • Understand the role of self-esteem and how it affects motivation and resilience
  • Focus attention in ways that encourage co-operation and build confidence
  • Foster a positive atmosphere and create strong connections at home
Juliet Richards

Class 2   Developing Emotional Intelligence

Our emotions guide our thoughts and behaviours. Developing Emotional Intelligence helps us understand our feelings and manage them in a healthy and positive manner. This means our children become more resilient and experience less stress and anxiety. Connecting with, and calming our children’s emotions, rather than trying to change how they feel, is the first step towards helping them with their behaviour.

You will learn to:

  • Recognise how emotions influence behaviour and understand the reasons children can be so emotional
  • Identify and respond to children’s emotions effectively and be able to help them develop self-regulation
  • Understand how to increase your family’s Emotional Intelligence
Ann Magalhaes

Class 3   Being in Charge

When we hold appropriate expectations for our child’s behaviour – based on their developmental stage and temperament – and understand what pushes us to shout and threaten, we are more able to stay calm and respond effectively. This enables us to be firmly and positively in charge at home, helping our children behave well and maintaining a warm and loving relationship.

You will learn to:

  • Be aware of how temperament and development affects your child’s behaviour
  • Set appropriate expectations for each child which helps you stay calmer and be more effective
  • Recognise different parenting styles and identify key strategies that keep you firmly and warmly in charge at home
Victoria Markou

Class 4   Setting up for Success

Children behave better when they understand what they need to do, and have a chance to prepare and practice. Busy parents often try to improve their child’s behaviour in the moment or fall into the habit of taking over. When we set up for success, we provide valuable learning opportunities that build competence and confidence, and help our children develop resilience and a can-do attitude.

You will learn to:

  • Understand your role in helping children do their best
  • Give effective instructions to increase co-operation
  • Apply practical micro-skills that help children develop good habits of behaviour
Victoria Markou

Class 5   Developing a Family Culture

When we identify the values that matter to us as a family, we create a strong sense of connection and provide a predictable and secure environment for our children. Developing positive rules and consistent routines, which are supported by effective rewards, makes it more likely our children will behave well and feel motivated to keep trying.

You will learn to:

  • Identify the values that matter to your family
  • Communicate these values through positive and reasonable rules and consistent routines
  • Understand how to motivate children to follow rules using effective rewards
Victoria Markou

Class 6   Responding to Misbehaviour

All children misbehave, and these are some of the hardest moments as a parent. How we handle our children's inappropriate behaviour affects whether they repeat or escalate the negative behaviour, or try a better way to behave. Knowing how to respond calmly and positively influences our child's self-esteem, their relationship with us, their ability to learn, and improves harmony at home.

You will learn to:

  • Recognise the causes of general misbehaviours
  • Respond calmly and effectively when things go wrong
  • Understand how effective consequences help your child learn to take responsibility for their actions and develop a healthy attitude towards mistakes
